Matfen Hall Wedding Photography

FILED IN: Wedding

I first met Stacie and Craig in 2013 when they brought their daughter Ella in for her first photo shoot in my old studio! Fast forward 3 years and I had the pleasure of photographing their special day at the stunning Matfen Hall in Northumberland.

Set in 300 acres of parkland Matfen Hall Hotel is in the heart of Northumberland. The award winning hotel just 15 miles west of Newcastle City centre in the picturesque village of Matfen is the ancestral home of Sir Hugh & lady Blackett. In 1832 the present house was built to replace the old manor for Sir William Blackett, 6th Baronet. The impressive Jacobean style mansion has a three storey seven bay entrance front. One of the most popular and important features of the house is the full height Gothic hall, this is where the wedding was held. Operating as a hotel and golf course with 53 individually decorated bedrooms since 1999 guests can enjoy true Northumbrian hospitality!

Back to the wedding of Stacie and Craig, I found out a few days before the wedding that Craig had been involved in a football related accident and had broken his leg in two places so was unfortunately confined to a wheel chair and crutches for most of the day. I have to say I feared the worst for the photos but fair play to Craig he didn’t let the crutches bother him too much! You can see a few samples from the day listed below.
